Yes, it’s true! I got engaged over this past weekend in Disney World! It is seriously a dream come true to be able to spend the rest of my life with my best friend.
So apparently Ryan had been planning this for a while… I had no clue!! We were going down to Disney’s Food and Wine Festival with my family and his to celebrate his birthday. My family is Disney obsessed! Disney is definitely a place I consider my second home. There is a place on Disney’s Boardwalk that is particularly special to Ryan and I. Ever since a couple of years ago, we have always joked around about getting married at this particular gazebo on the Boardwalk. Little did I know that the gazebo was about to be 100 times more special!!
So we walked over to the gazebo before dinner to show Ryan’s mom. Ryan started pulling me to the front of it and me, having absolutely no clue anything was happening, said “Are we doing something for dramatic effect?” And the next thing I know Ryan is on his knee, smiling his perfect smile, with the most beautiful ring in his hand. I was so shocked, I seriously started backing away as I said, “WHAT IS THAT!?” and told him that he was lying 😂. Finally, I realized that no one was playing a joke on me and this wasn’t a dream, this was reality!! The most perfect man on this earth was asking me to marry him! Of course I said yes and since that moment I haven’t stopped smiling!!
I can’t even explain how happy it makes me to get to marry him, I’m so blessed that God put us together. The ring is so amazing, and trust me I would have said yes to Ryan if he proposed to me with a bread stick, but I can’t stop looking at the ring. It’s PERFECT!! It’s not only so beautiful physically but I love to look at it and think about all of the years and memories that lead up to that moment, along with all of the years and memories that will follow it.
With this amazing joy in my heart I want to introduce you guys to something that we learned as a couple that has truly been so beneficial for our individual relationships with God and our relationship as a couple.
It is so important to have a personal relationship with God but if you are in a relationship it’s also important to include God in it. When you include God daily into your relationship it is so magical and humbling all at the same time. When you put God first things will start to fall into place and that is definitely true of relationships.
The triangle above helped me to remember the main point here, in this relationship. That is when you both move closer to God together, you will move closer to each other. Be with someone who chases God with you. I’m so blessed for this wonderful life ahead of me. God truly does provide immeasurably more than all we could ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20).
