Who is Jesus Christ?
Having a personal relationship with Jesus is vital to being His follower. So, who is Jesus? Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came to earth a human baby. This baby grew up to be a man who had never sinned. This man started spreading the good news of God, He started to clarify who God was and what His heart really contained, love. Jesus then went on to say there will be a new covenant, a new hope, a new life through Him. For proclaiming the truth of God, Jesus was ridiculed, beaten, whipped, tortured and mocked. He was bleeding to death, His body was so bloodied and torn that He barely resembled a human. As He was put up on that cross he drowned and suffocated as blood filled His lungs.
That is what our Lord went through, our God was willingly murdered for you and for me. While all of this was happening, He would still be able to look at you in the face and tell you that you are worth it. He could look at the people who were putting those nails into His flesh and say that they are worth it. We are free because of Jesus.
“But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:3).
Why should I have a personal relationship with Jesus?
Though our sins were the reason for Jesus’ death on the cross, He loves us more than any one else ever could. I don’t know about you but that kind of relationship sounds exciting. A relationship with Jesus is a relationship of mercy, unfailing love, patience, trust, joy and hope. A relationship with Jesus is unlike relationships here on earth. How? Jesus will not disappoint you. The evil in this world, the people in this world, and the materials in this world will continually let you down, but God does not. “The scripture says, “Whoever believes in him will not be disappointed.” (Romans 10:11).
Not only does a relationship with Jesus not compare to any other, but Jesus is the only way to Heaven. Jesus is the only way to salvation and eternal hope. What does that mean? Because Jesus died for our sins, He offers us a free gift of salvation. The only way to accept salvation is by humbling ourselves to know that we are sinners. We must know that Jesus died on the cross for our sins. We have to believe that Jesus saved our souls. “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6).
A relationship with Jesus is the most important relationship you will ever have.
How do I get a personal relationship with Jesus?
“Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.” (John 14:6).
“He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.” (John 1:10-13).
