Happy Devotional Monday!
I have been away from the blogging world for a second, because I am also a competitive cheerleading coach. We went to Disney’s UCA Nationals so I had to put aside writing for coaching this past weekend. One thing I noticed was that because I wasn’t writing every day, because I wasn’t diving deep into God’s word every day I was kind of ignoring Him. I was saying, “Hey God I need to do this real quick and then I’ll come right back.” I lacked the passion and persistence in serving God just because I was busier than I normally am. It’s not that I was planning on writing, but I could have served God in many ways this weekend while coaching. Because of my mistake in pushing God to the side, todays verse is Romans 12:11.
“Do not lack diligence in zeal, be fervent in the spirit; serve the Lord.” (Romans 12:11)
zeal: great energy or enthusiasm in pursuit of a cause or objective
fervent: having or displaying passionate intensity
Once we truly grasp those two words this verse is able to cut so deep! Do not lack energy in pursuit of God, be passionate in the spirit, serve the Lord. We are to always serve God in everything that we do. On a daily basis we have multiple opportunities to show or tell at least one person who God is.
How can we serve God everyday?
This weekend my problem was that I ignored the fact that I could serve God in everything I did. Serving God can be so simple and it can be part of your daily routine. Serving God can simply be showing people God’s love, sharing your testimony, sharing experiences and giving to others. Think of your daily routine…how often do you think you serve God? How often do you think you could serve God if you thought of it less as an event and more as a part of your routine?
Serve God every single day! We don’t have to be perfect because God already is, just share what God has done in your life and display the passion and gratitude you have for the Lord! 🙂
