How do we get fulfillment in this life?
The truth is that fulfillment is not necessarily something you can find or achieve. It is something given to you when you let God in. We’re all chasing something, right? “If only I had this… then I would be happy.” “If only I could do this… then I would have fulfillment.” No matter what we gain, achieve or buy… we will always want more. We will never gain true fulfillment from anything circumstantial, or anything of this world. There is a hole in our hearts that we try to fill with all sorts of things. The truth is, this hole is in the shape of God and He is the only one who can fill it.
So, what must we do?
- Trust in His plans
- Know He is sovereign
- Enjoy life
Trust in His plans
God has the best plans. We must trust that He does have a plan and that His plans are good. Many times we get caught up in trying to plan our own lives, down to the last second. Majority of the time our plans just don’t work out leaving us disappointed. Or our plans do work out but it is not as we expected it to be. So what do we do? We must trust that God knows exactly what He is doing. Living life in a way where you can trust there is a reason for everything and the best is yet to come will give you true fulfillment!
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

Know He is Sovereign
God is in control, whether you can see it or not. God holds the ultimate power and He does know what is best. There are things that we cannot see happening around us. We only know what happened in the past and what is happening right now. We have absolutely no way to know the future. God does know the future as far in advance as it possibly goes. That is why the things that we may think are best for us, just simply are not. We need to trust in Him and His ability to be the controller of our lives.
“I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted.” Job 42:2
“So I commend the enjoyment of life, because there is nothing better for a person under the sun than to eat and drink and be glad. Then joy will accompany them in their toil all the days of the life God has given them under the sun.” Ecclesiastes 8:15
Don’t waste time on this earth doing work you don’t find meaningful. Truly find the joy in everything. Make sure to take the time to stop and appreciate everything around you. Make sure to leave time in your day to just sit with God and feel His presence. Find the small things to be grateful for. Listen closely, forgive easily and love unconditionally. Let your joy in life be the reason people want to know Jesus!
